My Blackberry Curve is saying an error message when I insert a media card...?

When I insert my media card on my blackberry curve from att it says that "A media card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a a disk error-checking utility on a computer." What exactly dose that mean? What utility do I use?

Please help.

If you have a reader on your PC, find the card in file explorer and format it. If you don't have a reader, you really should get one. Caution: if it is a SDHC format, an older reader may not be capable. The Kingston FCR-HS219/1 works fine with SDHC cards.
