I live in central Florida and have Blue Daze planted in my garden as a ground cover. The plants were put in last October. During the months of June and part of July, we have had lots and lots of rain. My Blue Daze is in the shade, but in the morning, it receives sun. In the morning, the plants are full of beautiful, bright blue blossoms, but I've noticed some of the foliage is turning yellow. Could this be from too much water? Some of the other plants have brown tips, and I know it's not from too little water. I have read that "symptoms" of too much water or too little water can look pretty much the same.

My Blue Daze bloomed for the first time during the spring and summer months, and it's still going strong. I'm perplexed by the yellowish leaves. I applied fertilizer a couple of months ago but did not do anything during the rainy season.

Is this typical with my plant, in that perhaps it is reaching the end of its "blooming" period? I'm dazed by my Blue Daze, and need help.

  1. I plant blue daze every year, but I live in Oklahoma and it's an annual here.  These plants are truly spectacular; it can be difficult to find a plant with blue flowers.

I water my blue daze daily, sometimes twice a day, but they're in pots in full sun, and today it's over 100 degrees with about 70% humidity right now.

I have read that blue daze, during and just after rainy seasons, can be subject to fungus, and that overwatering can cause fungus problems.  None of the sites I went to said what to do once the fungus is established, though.

Not very helpful, I know, but it's nice to know there are other blue daze fans out there.
