Question:

My Blue-Tongued Skink sleeps all the time?

My Blue tongued skink Buddha loves to sleep all day and at night, too. A breeder told me they're moreso daytime lizards rather then nocturnal ones. Is it a good/okay thing to play with him and try to keep him awake all day so he sleeps at night?

  1. They are durinal, so he should be sleeping at night. Make sure that this is happening. Sometimes animals get a bit mixed up, and sleep at opposite times nature intended to them, maybe because at night it's to bright or noisy for him to sleep.

Blueys are also quite lazy, and most love to just bury under something and stay there, not necessarily sleeping. Like all lizards, they just kind of take it easy :P

So as long as during the night, for 12 hours roughly, everything around him is nice, quiet and dark, then he should be sleeping then anyway. With these conditions, you can take him out during the day as much as you like, but don't 'try' to keep him awake, just let him be.

Oh, and also make sure that you have the right temps for the daytime. He could be lazy if it's too cold for him.
