I have worked in this company almost a year. I have a real condescending boss at times. I have a very challenging job. I am good at what I do. Somtimes I forget things. I am in HR and she is the HR Director. In a meeting I asked a question maybe I should've know...and my boss reacted "how long have you been here" and you don't know that? What do you know - then started questioning me on my question what dept does that person work for that u don't know huh? She is always up/down. She was yelling at me in front of another co-worker and manager. She was very condescending. What should I do? Then the next day she threw my paper i was waiting to get approved to me after it was approved. How do I handle this?Maybe I will get fired?

  1. Either suck it up or go find another job........   Sorry, but that is just how it is these days. People are just mean and are on power trips.

  2. I would talk with her first and tell her your issues. If you really like your job, there could be a chance that you may need to move to a different company. There could be a chance that if you document things that has happened to you, she might be doing the same thing.

Try sitting down with her and talk things out. Tell her you expectations with her and she should be able to tell you her expectations of you. If you are unable to work things out with her, then perhaps you may need to leave.

In my opinion, if you like your job, and want to become an HR director, you needed someone who can educate, listen, and mentor you to become the best HR director in the future. It sounds like she isn't doing any of those things, and you might not be a good fit for her.

Her attitude is the reflection of the company attitude.

  3. Keep notes of the dates and times that these things happen, write down who was there also as witnesses.

If this continues to happen, you need to speak to her Superior and request that she is dealt with.

This is not right, if you need to be corrected or admonished, it should be done in private.

  4. I would go by a very real looking rubber snake and put it in the top drawer of her desk

  5. ewwwwwwww

I would talk to her and just ask her point blank "Do you think I do a good job"?  then tell her she doesn't act like she thinks so (if she said yes) and tell how she behaves

  6. wow H.R. director tough one go to her supervisor and make a formal complaint and if nothing is done contact labor board

    Good luck

  7. I would start by writing down the incidents (when they happened, what happened, what specifically was done to make you feel like you did).  I would pull her aside and tell her how you feel about those things when she does them to you, and that quite frankly you were surprised/shocked by her behavior.  (make a note of when you talked to her about that as well).  Also tell her that if she's going to reprimand you like that, that you prefer that be done in private, and that she's not being clear about expectations if she's surprising you in an open forum like that.  If she gives you any further grief, then ask to see whomever she reports to.
