My Boy Paddy, the brightest prospect for the Cumberland Show Handicap Chase on 20th February
Carlisle is to host the Cumberland Show Handicap Chase on Monday, 20th February over three miles and two furlongs. The purse for the winner has been set at £5, 653 and the field is set for fourteen runners to compete.
My Boy Paddy is Accordion’s eight-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare Securon Rose and is under training Nigel Twiston-Davies. He has not cracked through the 2012 season yet and this race would be his seasonal debut.
From the eight career starts, he has been pulled up twice, has struck victory thrice and been placed thrice too.
My Boy Paddy’s first victory was on 5th April at Cork in the Pegus Horse Feed Point – To – Point Series Final INH Flat Race. He won the two miles and four furlong race as the 5/4 favourite, leading by eleven lengths on the field of twelve contenders.
He was the evening’s favourite in the Totel Solutions “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle Division 1 on 29th October and got positioned second against Kilcrea Kim who won the race.
My Boy Paddy then won as a heavy favourite on 25th November at Uttoxeter in the John Draisey’s 80th Birthday Celebration Novices’ Hurdle. The 4/9 favourite of the race led by 2 ½ lengths and was through the wire before any of the other seven contesting could threaten his command.
His final start of the 2011 season was an unexpected disappointment as despite being exposed to the chance of leading the track not just once but twice, was left in vain without any sincere effort and led the eight-year-old being pulled up from the race.
My Boy Paddy has been entered as a favourite thrice and has maintained the ranking to the third position till yet, these facts cannot get over shadowed by a single race that might just have been his bad day.
The ten-year-old bay gelding, Do It For Dalkey has had a thriving 2011 season during which he raced six times and was sent as a favourite at five different instances.
He won the Freebetting.Co.UK Handicap Chase on 11th January 2011 at Newcastle and on 20th October 2011, Do It For Dalkey won the Join Today At Rewards4racing.Com Handicap Chase at Carlisle.
The last time that he posted a victory was on 7th November 2011 at Carlisle in the Watch Racing UK On Sky 432 Handicap Chase.
