My Brother passed away from a methadone and xanax overdose.?

I want to know who out there has been using these combanations of these two drugs... i want you to know that it will kill you if you have been using these two together...

I guess i'm safe. I'm not addicted to anything.

sorry for you lose. its sad and i know how hard you are paining. i have a hubby i just lost and nothing really anyone can say will help. i have a sister who takes xanax and few other items together and they are Killing her i know this but she wont' stop either its just time and gone i am sure thanks anyhow.

First of all I am sorry for your loss. Second, I commend you for taking the time to try and educate others about the danger of mixing Methadone with Xanax. Lastly, I wanted to try to explain what may be the reason for some comments that appear hostile or unsympathetic regarding your post. The reason may be because there are some organizations out there that were formed by people who lost loved ones to multiple drug overdoses. Yet, because one of those drugs was Methadone they chose to stage an all out war on that drug exclusively. This has resulted in many people who take Methadone for legitimate reasons such as addiction or pain being attacked and discriminated against. Instead of trying to prevent diversion these anti Methadone groups have turned there focus towards banning Methadone or enforcing regulations that would ensure closure of clinics. Meantime, drugs that are equally likely to cause overdose are not mentioned. Many times 5 drugs can be listed in a toxicology report yet, the death will be listed as a "Methadone related death". This is unfair because while Methadone may have been the gun it takes a drug like Xanax to pull the trigger. So, I thank you for mentioning that it was a combo that took your brothers life and not just Methadone. If you want to help change things please avoid joining groups like HARMD and MAMA.org and focus your attention on diversion techniques working with not against people who take thins medication legally. sorry for your loss, but using any drug can kill you. it  could be one type of drg. people just has to not be dumb and depend on a drug for relief of stress or any issue in life.
