alright, here we go. my 2 parakeets, Roxy(male) and Keisha(female) are in a breeding cage together. i caught them mating 2 days ago. now Keisha is spending loads of time in the nesting box and Roxy is sitting on the perch outside of it singing and is very fat(happy) I'm guessing this is a good sign =) here are some pics of the them http://dummdeedumm2008.piczo.com/Pics?cr=1&linkvar=000044, any ideas of what the chicks might look like. and is there anything i should watch out for or expect? this is my 1st time breeding so all info will be a ton of help!

thanks all, Hewy =)

  1. I made a mistake. I thought that you stated these were cockatiels (very horny birds).

  2. THEY ARE ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE I JUST LOVE THEM...

I WISH I NEVER HAD SOLD MY OWN BUDGIES....

  3. Hi,

The first egg is normally laid eight days after a successful mating. Hens normally start spending more time in the nest and will chew up the newspaper, wood, nest box anything in sight.

One thing which i have noticed with my breeding birds is that a few days before laying then the hen gets fatter around her bum, i have noticed that it almost touches the perch.

  4. Glad you are asking for information, but before setting up your birds to breed is the time to learn..and there is much to know.

Healthy Avian diet is a must know, as is learning about egg binding, what to do if the parents reject the egg's or hatchlings, temperature the chicks must be kept at and humidity, plus know what to feed, what temperature and how often if you have to feed the babies at birth, or need to hand feed them abit later.

Take you time here, there is alot to read and learn on this subject.
