My Burner Requires DVD "RW" both plus AND minus discs and I can't find them anywhere online?

  1. Hi Spirit,

    The designation +/-R or +/-RW means you can use either a +R or a -R DVD. The RW means it is rewritable. Rewritable are more expensive and should only be used if you want to erase and write new data. In other words you can erase it and reuse it like you did a floppy.

    The DVD+R and DVD-R are competing formats much like the old VHS and Beta formats in video tapes. Today most drives are Hybrid and handle both formats. They are usually labeled DVD+/-R.

    My personal experience has led me towards using the +R. It is slightly better at error handling so more tolerant of dirty or damaged media and also more tolerant to the subtle differences between players.

  3. There are two standards DVD-R and DVD+R.  A disk is one or the other, not both.  Some drives require one or the other.  You are one of the lucky ones who has a drive can use either kind!

  4. Are you sure it's not simply DVD-R or DVD+R disc's those can be bought at any electronics store. There is also the option of buying DVD-Ram Discs but i honestly don't think that's the case try these sites

  5. i think your confused? it means your drive will take either plus or minus there is no disc that is both.
