  1. This should be easily fixed.  Normally I'd suggest returning the water gun but this model hasn't been made for nearly a decade and nothing available today is as good as it.

You don't need to take it apart, and even if you did, you're extremely unlikely to break anything.  I've taken apart many before and haven't broken one yet at that stage.

Putty epoxy is your friend here.  This stuff is like clay that sticks to anything and becomes as solid as steel.  Go to a home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes and ask for putty epoxy.  Follow the instructions on the box and use the putty epoxy to stick the two parts together.  You can fill in the cracks with the putty epoxy pretty well.  That's what's great about it.

I'd suggest sanding with coarse sandpaper the areas you will stick the putty epoxy before applying it.  You also might find some sort of reinforcement with metal or wooden strips to be helpful.

After the putty epoxy has dried you might want to cover the handle in something like bike handlebar tape to make the handle a little more comfortable.  Any bike shop, sporting goods store, and WalMart should have this tape.

In the sources I've linked to a water gun website with a lot of repair information.  In particular check out the glues page that I linked to.  It contains some important information you will want to know.

If you have any other questions the people at this website would be more than glad to help you out too.

  2. Face the fact that it's broke! Just go back to the store and get another one. You might find one that's better.
