Question:

My Cake Came Out Nasty...Help?

So I tested out a new carrot cake recipe and it turned out to be not so good..My question is:

Is there anything I can do with the cake now?

What creative things can I do with left over cake or cake crumbs?

I don't want to waist precious cram cheese frosting on a mediocre cake.

I feel bad throwing three sticks of butter and a pound of carrots away...grr

  1. Heck ship it to me I'll eat it. I love carrott cake.Carrott cake is like s*x even a bad one is still pretty darn good!!! LOL

  2. Enough cream cheese icing can cure all ills...i would just add extra frosting and eat it anyway.:)

  3. It was probably the recipe... sometimes they just don't work out.

do you have the icing on the cake yet?

If not you could make a red velvet cake right from the box... super easy and use the cream cheese frosting on it! super yummy!

Also, if the cake is nasty there really isn't much you can do with it because whatever you use it in is going to tasted like it and will also be nasty so I would just pitch that.... sorry.

    Good luck

  4. give it to a hobo!!

  5. Use your cake to make bread pudding.  Cut the cake into chunks and let it get dry.  Make a traditional egg custard to pour over the top and include some whisky to add to the flavor.  Serve with a warm cream cheese sauce.

  6. It would help if we knew why the cake is a flop. If it's flavour, there's probably not a lot you can do.

If it hasn't risen properly or is heavy, perhaps you could make a trifle?

  7. crumble the cake up and mix it with a can of frosting.  I think I'd use vanilla (or cream cheese) with a carrot cake.  Then make it into 1-2 inch balls and dip each ball it in vanilla or almond bark. Let set.

You can find this recipe on allrecipe.com it is called cake balls.

  8. here is something

why dont you make ice cream, vanilla or something, and put little pieces of the cake in it. go ahead and freze balls of frosting, and throw that in too

go to the store, buy an ice cream maker, it will have the directions and everything. and its cheap. it will take some time to make it though, so if you have kids you can spend time with them, or friend,s or family

  9. you could make a cheesecake with the leftovers or feed the bird or ducks!

try this recipe ,it always comes out well!

    7floz sunflower oil

    4 eggs

    4 tablespoons clear honey

    8ozs plain flour

    teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

    pinch salt

    tablespoon vanilla extract

    6ozs grated carrots

    butter or oil for greasing

    for the icing;

    3oz cream cheese

    2 tablespoons butter12oz icing sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract  or vanilla seeds from pod

beat all the ingreidients together.pour into a deep 9 inch cake tin  bake for an hour on gas4 or 180 degrees celcius.make the icing by beating the ingredients togther and ice on top when cake is cool.

  10. I went to the store to buy a candle holder but they didn't have one, can i use your cake?

  11. well heres one thing do NOT feed it to the dog inless u want ur dog to throw up all over your house! well if it is that bad try to maybe add something to it to make it taste better. I know what its like when that happens and u dont want to waste all of the stuff u put into it!

  12. If you cut it into small pieces you could make a nice chocolate fondue and dip the pieces into it.  Chocolate makes everything taste good.

  13. Doesn't that just suck!?  I wouldn't want to waste the tasty goodness of cream cheese frosting either.  That would just be a sin.

I like the idea of the person who said to make ice cream.  However, I'm incredibly lazy and unmotivated, so instead of making the ice cream, I'd get a carton of french vanilla ice cream, let it soften a little bit, dump it into a bowl and mix in the chunks of carrot cake and some globs of the cream cheese frosting.  (You can always use the leftover frosting on graham crackers).

I'd cram it all back into the carton and let it re-freeze.

  14. You have a dog?  He'd be super happy.  Skip giving him 3 sticks of butter though.  Just chuck the whole thing and chalk it up to experience.  :P

  15. if you have any pets....you can make them into little cupcakes and give them to your neighbors....or sell them outside of a store or sumthing....

    GOOD LUCK =]]

  16. give it to someone

  17. You can take some of the moist cake; mix it with pineapple preserves and some brandy or rum;  roll into balls; then roll in powdered sugar.  Let them sit a few days to mellow, to have good rum or brandy balls ......  Use it in a trifle ...... Put vanilla ice cream on pieces of it, with hot caramel sauce over the top (or heat up a can of apple pie filling and pour that over the ice cream

  18. pour a pie filling on top of it and rebake it   take a block of  cream cheese  1/2 cup  powered sugar a table spoon  of milk and a half a teaspoon of vanilla  blend with mixer  spread over cake then dump the pie filling over it bake on 350 for 15 minutes

  19. Feed it to Buk!!! He'll eat anything!!!

And aw.... that sucks.  I once ruined a banana bread.  *drat*

I agree, don't waste the cream cheese frosting on a lousy cake .... just stick a spoon in the frosting and eat it that way. As for the cake .... well, it's only mediocre and not terrible ... so divy it up between close friends and say, "Here guys ... this bombed but i don't want to waste it. IF you still want to be my friend, you have to chow down. Cheers!"

Make sure to pass out shots of something heavy .. like SoCo or JD. Your friends will be thankful for the cake then!!

    LOL

    xD
