Ok my canary lays a lot of eggs during the summer. About 10 I think. There is an adult male in there too. I've waited for about a month for the eggs to hatch but they dont. The mother just keeps laying eggs also.

  1. The male isn't fertilizing the eggs. Maybe?

  2. The eggs are not fertile.  You can stop her from laying by cutting down the amount of daylight hours - cover them early, uncover late in the morning.  Remove nest and nesting materials.  Be sure they are getting lots of extra calcium in the form of cuttle bones and hard boiled eggs mashed with the shell on.

10 is too many eggs and very stressful for the female.  How many birds are in the cage?  Another mother?

I just removed the male from my two hens so they can rest from him pestering them.  No nests, no nesting material and they are no longer laying.

Remove all the eggs, nest etc, etc.  Clean the cage and offer them a clipped piece of romaine or other dark leaf lettuce.  They will be okay.
