Question:

My Cancun Vacation Itinerary (Your Opinion Please)?

Arriving in Cancun airport last week of June. Will take the Riviera bus (only $6.50 US) to Playa Del Carmen where I will stay at Fiesta Banana. I plan to goto Cozumel and snorkel on day 1. XCaret all inclusive with evening show for day 2. Chichen Itza for half day on Day 3. Spend day checking out city of Cancun and shopping for Day 4. Xel Ha and more snorkeling for Day 5.

What do you think? Did I miss anything? Any experiences with these places? It's my first time in Mexico. From what I can tell I don't need Visa, but I do need passport. Do I need anything else? I plan to bring my big suitcase so I can fit in some souvenirs back.

  1. Tulum was boring to me.

    Xel ha rocked.

  2. spend some time on the beach...been there many times...wonderful

  3. Don't forget to take some time to just sit out or swim in the ocean with a drink or two! With all that activity, you will need some relaxtion time.

  4. My daugher and I visited Chichen Itza out of Cancun and all the trips were full day trips.    Seems like 1/2 day might be pushing it.

If you would just like to experience a Mayan ruin, consider Tulum.   It is much closer to where you are staying and from what I understand (which we had gone) the setting is spectacular.

  5. Greetings from Cancun!

Chichen Itza is a full day because of the actual travel time. I agree that if you want to see ruins then Tulum is much closer and it will fit into your itinerary better.

I love Xcaret! I was there last week with family and friends. We ate at the La Laguna which is right next to the "Jaguar Island" and they serve Mexican and International cuisine (buffet).

If you aren't claustrophobic try the underground river. You can snorkel or just float along (in the life preserver)...if you would rather stay above ground there is paradise river.

Don't miss the coral reef aquarium, butterfly pavilion, orchid greenhouse or the Mayan village.

We also went to Xel-ha last week. We snorkeled, tried the cliff of courage, took inner tubes down the river, ate at Chula Vista,  drank some Margaritas, tried the swing rope and went into the Mayan cave. It made for a very full day!

When are you actually going to sit down to relax?

You will receive a "Travel Visa" on the airplane.

    Have a great time!
