  1. due to the information at hand that you provided it sounds like your egr valve is stuck open.  the egr usually operates at a minimum of a 35% load on the engine and over 3500 rpm. this valve recirculates exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber to combust any excessive unburned gas to keep emissions down. if it is stuck open the valve is letting exhaust gas into the combustion chamber causing it to kill the spark. usually it is the better point to change both the vacuum solenoid and the egr on a vehicle that old as both are probably worn out. but if you can only do one. put a handheld operated vacuum pump/guage on the egr where the vacuum port is and operate. if the valve moves up and down more than likely its the vacuum solenoid. personally i would change both and clean the carbon out of the egr ports.
