My Cat's Ear Looks like it was Clipped (not in a fight)

So, I have a cat, and I got him as a kitten backin 2001. He stuck around and was the sweetest thing, but then he ran away in 2004 (my parents never neautered him, it's not my fault so don't get mad at me). Well he came back a couple of years ago, sweet as can be.. But he looked neutered and had the top of one of his ears clipped off! Not in like a fight, it looked like it had been done surgically. Well I was reading about feral cats, and I think he may have been mistaken for a feral cat and Trapped neutered and returned... Do you think so?

No, coz if he was cought by a dog catcher or something, they dont de-s*x them and definetly wouldnt let him go again. maybe he was someone elses pet for the time he was gone and they nutered him and maybe he had something wrong with his ear like a disease or something and had to get in removed

That's probably what happened.  And it's a good thing.  This way he wasn't able to continue to make litter upon unwanted litter.  You should be happy this happened since your parents weren't responsible enough to do this themselves.  When shelters/feral rescue groups trap feral cats and spay and neuter they often clip one ear tip so at a distance they're able to see whether cats have already been spayed or neutered or not.

It sounds like that is exactly what happened. Your cat was mistaken for a feral or stray cat, trapped, neutered, and released. I work with a feral cat colony and we always have the left ear slightly clipped so that we can identify which ones have already been altered. The way our kitties are clipped it can actually be hard to see from a distance.

He was neutered, tagged, and released. But he was not "mistaken for a feral." Your cat was living outdoors and was not neutered, so someone neutered him. This is what happens when other people donate their time and money to do things that irresponsible people like your parents are too worthless to do for themselves.
