  1. they will amputate the leg at the shoulder.

  2. Don't quite understand your comment.

One thing that is good for nerves is " amber" you can try that.  But if the nerves in the leg are truely damaged then there is not much you can do to revive the nerve.

You said dont' say ask your vet...b ut that is what I would do.

    good luck

  3. I think you should call the vet.  I really hope you aren't thinking about doing it yourself.  That's nasty!

  4. When amputating a front leg it is always amputated at the shoulder as there is no point leaving an animal with stump.  There are sadly no prosthesis for pets and also it would just cause problems.

You don't need to worry about getting a range of opinions because it's always done this way.

Best of luck with your cat.

  5. When I was a kid, we had a cat that had lost one of it's front legs in some sort of farm accident.  This cat (whom we dubbed 'Captain Hook') was still a spitfire.  He had no trouble keeping up with all the other cats, jumping and climbing.

The vet would tell you best about ther location because it probably depends on where the nerv damage is located.  Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but if it does then just know that your cat can still have a happy cat-life minus one leg.

    Good Luck!

  6. usually it is cut off near the joint or in this case the closest to the shoulder

    good luck and im sorry!

    poor kitty!

    :(
