so, my cat HAD this awful habitof running outside. And me and my neighbors got into this fight, and there the type of people that would hurt an animal. So 4 days ago, my cat came in the house, limping, so me and my mom assumed that he hurt his leg. But today, me, my mom, and my sister saw this cut looking thing on his stomach, right by his leg, you can actually see the meat on his bones, and it had puss coming out of it today and everything, we were thinking about taking him to the vet tomorrow, but just in case we ccouldn'tget in, i was wondering if anyone else'scat has this, and how to take care of it, and is it contagious to other animals? my cat can barely walk, he lays like all day long, and he even has a hard time getting into the litter box.

please, if you know anything about stuff like this, could you please tell me. It would mean a lot to me.

  1. Get him to the vet immediately as it sounds as if it is infected at the least and depending on the depth could have internal injuries. If you call the vet and tell them your situation they will make opening right away as this would be considered an emergency situation!!!!!!! You can try an clean the area with a warm lightly soapy wash cloth by just trying to dab clean the area and holding the cloth for about 5 min if possible over the area. afterward take a clean gauze with a little diluted peroxide and try to dab the cut but DEFINITELY GET HIM TO THE VET PLEASE!! if need be the emergency room at the vets is open 24 hrs if he feels hot or gets worse as cats have a very smal temp range of 101-103 anything higher is extremely dangerous

  2. He needs to go to the vet ASAP.  Get an emergency appointment if you can't get a regular one.  Do you have a thermometer?  I'd check his temperature, clean the wound as best you can but get him to a doctor ASAP!

  3. My only answer is to make sure you get him to the vet.  Until then, clean the wound with warm water and soap (preferably hand soap).  Cover the wound with gauze to protect it from further germs and get him to the vet.
