My cat who is eleven years is coughing. He's never done this before, it's bizarre. And he's coughing loudly. The problem is, its' close to midnight here and the vet isn't open. Would he be okay for the night?

    sounds silly,

but normal my cats do this too, they out grow it

  2. Cats don't "outgrow" coughing symptoms.  It could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection and needs to be checked by your vet. If he doesn't seem to be having problems breathing (panting and really deep breathing), he should be okay for the night.  However, we have an all night vet here and I ALWAYS take mine in if there seems to be a serious problem.

  3. does he ever produce hairballs? if not it can also be asthma, which is common in kittys, your vet can tell by an x ray, he should be fine til monday
