My Cat is Deathly Skinny?

My cat is 1 year old, Her mother was a rescued cat and the owners of her mother didn't know she was pregnant until the mother cat, all of a sudden had kittens. My cat has always been kind of anti-social and loves to hide and sleep. I didn't think this was a problem until she stopped eating and drinking. My Fiance and I did get another cat and we had introduced them 2 weeks ago and she disliked him wayyy more than we though she would, she started hiding and not drinking or eating once we had him around her. She would come out at night for a while and eat and drink, but then she stopped coming out for good. We were very worried last night because she is so weak and can barely walk around. She won't eat, she won't drink all she does is pee when I put her in her box. I bathed her today to make sure it wasn't something on her skin or fur. All she wants to do is hide in the closet and sleep. She is bones right now. Her spine is popping out. I know all I need to do is get her to eat and drink and she will feel better. My Fiance is out right now getting Chicken baby food and I have been giving her water through a dropped every couple hours, she is no longer dehydrated but she is very malnourished. She needs to go to the Vet, but neither of us can afford to take her, she are totally broke. I am doing everything I can to help her. I blocked off the closet also so she couldn't hide int here and not get fresh air. I opened the screen door and have her sitting next to my chair, the breeze is nice and theres some sun light there. I feel terrible because I have no money to take her to the vet. I am struggling to make my rent. Hopefully what I'm doing will tide her over until We can take her to the Vet.

Please pray for Baby Ruffles. She needs it right now.

Suggestions and prayers are always welcome.

Thanks Everybody!

Signed,

-Scared and waiting.

  1. first this go's for the first few up there that are saying "take her to the vet" what did she just mention up in her story.. "neither of us can afford to take her, we are totally broke" didn't you read and second just keep trying your best keep looking for help on the internet and i'll pray for you i understand what you are going through and I'm not going to harass and say TAKE HIM/HER TO THE VET! and also for

ronda.t she only got the other cat to keep it company

  2. I will definitely say a prayer, I have a kitten and love cats and I'm sure she'll come around and warm up to your new kitty! Good luck and God bless!!!

  3. too long to read....

try force feeding her... get beef baby food mix with water and give it through a seringe.

then make sure she gets to a vet!  call around and find one that will work out payments or a clinic.

  4. I have prayed  for your cat. Please find some way to get her to a vet. You should not have gotten another cat if you cant afford the first one.

  5. get rid of the other cat. Period.

Take her to the vet, and make sure she is ok.

Sounds like she is sick, amd may have something you can't see or feel.

I prayed for her. I love cats and i cant bear to see them sick or hurt.

    Take her to the vet.

She deserves to be taken care of.

  6. aww im so sorry. You could try some tuna juice through the dropper.

  7. i would give the cat up. bring her to a shelter.

she is suffering, she needs help you can not give her.

she needs to be the only cat with a person who lives alone.

she is a special needs cat.

she is afraid of the other cat.

if you dont want to give her up, put her back in the closet. in a box, on its side, so it only has one opening, face opening to the wall. close door almost all the way, keep it dark and quite.

    she will feel safe.

put her food water and litter box in there.

reed her a can of tuna fish, or meat, beef poultry or pork. cooked, no seasonings.

if that does not work, at night when it is quite, mash up water and meat, put on your finger, feed cat.

if that does not work, put it on his front paws, he will wash it off and swallow it.

or, get rid of the other cat.

  8. good luck i hope shell be alright

  9. you will have to drag her out and force feed her every 2 to 3 hours.

    Things you will need:

nutrical- a high calorie paste found in a tube at most pet places

baby food meats- just the meats, not dinners

canned milk or KMR (kitten milk replacer found at pet places)

    chicken broth, low sodium

high quality and good smelling canned food - some ground and some chunky

pedialyte, unflavored- from the grocery store

    honey

mix pedialyte 50/50 with water and give that to her, about 3-5 ml every 2 hours

smear a pea sized bit of nutrical on her gums and tongue so she will ingest it every 2 hours.

mix up some ground canned food with kmr, chicken broth, or canned milk and a drop or two of honey, until it is liquid then squirt 5 ml of the liquid food in her mouth every 2 hours, make sure you do not forcefully squirt it down her throat as she can aspirate and get pneumonia. just gently squirt it into her mouth in the side and make sure she is swallowing it.

after each feeding, wash her face and bib (chest) with a warm damp cloth as this will be messy and cats need to clean and feel clean in order to keep up their health.

give her lots of love and keep her warm. keep the other cat away from her and do not let it in the same room when you are feeding her (they will get embarrassed and refuse to even swallow)

if she does get her appetite back after a day or so then give her the chunky canned cat food. one of my rescues would only eat fancy feast beef and giblets grilled style after her brush with starvation.

get the cat to the vet and try to make payment arrangements. if she is too far gone she will need a vet or she will die and none of this temporary help will be of any use. Don't worry about her pooping right now- she has to have something in there in the first place or there isn't anything to poo out.

  10. If she hasn't defecated in few days - go to the drugstore and buy Lactulose. You'll need to give her a dropper of 2cc (2ml) 3 times a day until she poops. Give her lots of water.

To beef her up. Cook up this recipe. Buy Chicken Livers and Chicken Hearts, cut up into small pieces. and fry gently in fry pan. Add Chicken Broth. Don't add anything with onions. Add white cooked rice. Once cooler, add to blender and blend. Give her some warm. Keep some in fridge. Freeze the rest in ice cube trays. Once frozen transfer to plastic freezer bags and take one out daily for super. She'll eat those for about one month and might even gain more weight than ever.

But she has to defecate and have water.

Take her off all hard cat food and feed her only soft moist food.

    Hope this helps.

This happened to my cat Teddy, he's 16 and I was sure he was going to die, but he is happy now, gained his weight back and he could have another 1 or 2 good years.
