My Cats Back Legs Collapsed?

Last night my cat was eating and she just collapsed into the bowl. It looked like her back legs just gave out...She ran and layed down because she was scared and it looked like her tail and her back legs just got stiff..She laid there for about a minute..she tried to get up, stumbled a little and then laid back down for another minute..then got up like nothing ever happened and today she's fine, like it never happened (it happened last night.) I made her a vet appt but they couldnt see her until Tuesday..Has anyone ever had this happen? She's about 7 years old and a little over weight but I've never heard of anything like this happening. Please let me know if you have any ideas of what it could be. Thank You.

  1. It needs to be seen by a vet. Make sure they check her blood glucose levels, it could be diabetic neuropathy.

  2. Ive never had this happen to me. But it could be a muscle or something? Im really not sure! Hope she gets better soon! xx

  3. please go to the vet:this happened to our little dog:middle of the night he just collapsed(rear legs)

We rushed to the vet:our dog had a herniated disc in the lower back.

This can happen to cats too:you need a vet to diagnose it.

Cat will need total rest, medication(from the vet) and lose weight for sure!

Please call the vet ASAP.X-rays don't show the disc between the vertebrae:possibly your kitty needs an MRI.

    Go to this website:www.dodgerslist.com

Its a bunch of people who all help out other pet owners, who have a dog or cat with back problems.

I got a lot of good advice from them. Also:they can tell you what vets are "specialists" in this field.Tell them, what state, what town, city you live in!

  4. my 15 year old cat done that a week ago,she was walking in the garden and just toppled over,i picked her up and brought her in and held her in my arms because her breathing was abnormal, anyway 10 minutes passed and she wanted to get down off me,she was ok and then 3 days later she had a runny nose and watery eyes,i took her to the vets monday and it turned out she had flu and a tumor in her stomach, she died later that night in my arms..

  5. Your Kitty may have had a mini seizure or stroke it's hard to tell.

  6. Could be diabetes.
