Question:

My College grades are terrible. Can I still join the Air Force?

I have at least 15 credits that the Air Force would take, since they are Cs, Bs, and As. But that's only a few classes. I have so many D's and the college messed me up and gave me an F in one of my classes. Right now my GPA is 1.64 because of everything and I'm leaving the school before they take action against me because of my grades.

This is also an online school. The question really is, since I have at least15 credits worth of acceptable grades, but the other 20 credits are all unsuitable, will they take me if I score high enough on the ASVAB?

  1. I think they'd take you, but don't expect a glorious job as a pilot or flight coordinator... you'd probably be delegated to janitorial duty or repairing ships and filling their tanks. Sorry bud. D:

  2. Ugghhh, there are some bad answers on here.  Okay are you trying to enlist or become an officer?  If you are trying to become an officer now you are not qualified because it requires a bachelor's degree. Now if you are trying to enlist and you have a high school diploma your are fine with a qualified ASVAB score. If you do not have a high school diploma (and GED's do not count as a diploma) you need 15 completed college hours. As long as you have passed the class, it counts. They have to be college level classes, not remedial classes. Now when you join the Air Force, the community college of the Air Force will not accept those failed classes toward the associates degree you will be working on in the Air Force. Get an official copy of your transcripts and take them to your local recruiter. Good Luck

  3. They'll probably still take you, but if they don't offer you a job you think you'll like, you can ask them what to do about it.

You don't have to sign up right away, do you?

If you can negotiate with them, you may find that if you go back to community college in the fall, and fix some of the bad grades, you'll do much better.

  4. You have college experience, that means you are trying to better yourself.  The Air Force should take that into consideration.  And if you are 22 or younger, apply for the officer training program.  Math and Science are the main focus.

Yes, the answer below me is the best.  I just remember looking into NROTC when I was younger.
