My Columbian fiance has political asylum residency in the U.S. After we are married can that be changed? How?

She entered the states through Mexico. I've heard that political asylum residents that enter through Mexico have restrictions.

  1. If you are a U.S. citizen then, she will be also once you are married.

Once you are married you file the a I-785 (I think that is the number) Change of Status of Alien Relative...if she already has a work permit you do not have to refile for that...but the I-785 cost like $500 + now...Thanks Illegals!!! After you are married it does not matter how and why she entered the country, because now she is married to an American Citizen and there are different rules and regulations for her now...hope this helps...
