Question:

My Comcast Bill has more than doubled?

I had a great intro rate of 41.32, which included HBO, DVR, Digital Preferred. Now that its over, my bill is 87.19. This is more than double and I dont even have HBO anymore. I called and they said the best they could do was give me 15.00 off for 3 months. This still makes my bill over 72.00. I went thru the whole thing about how Dish is cheaper and we were going to cancel. (I spoke to someone in the retention dept) They didnt seem to care and said it was the best they could do because it is the current promo. I really dont want to switch to dish because of the contract + we are in an apartment. However, I dont think I have a choice. I dont think I should have to cut back the service to get a rate anywhere near what I had just because they are pushing there triple play. Any advice?

  1. Just a heads up: the dish gets more expensive too... Started out with it for $39.99 a month and I cancelled when it increased (bit by bit, mind you) to $57.99 a month plus tax. The triple play is a rip-off also, because it claims to be $99, but after the modem leasing fee (I already had a cable modem and they said it wouldn't work) and all of the add-on taxes and fees the bill ends up being around $120 a month. The whole industry is in SERIOUS need of some advertising regulation... Solution: Look for other cable/dish providers in the area. Otherwise the best thing to do is to keep bouncing back and forth between comcast and the dish depending on who is running the better promotion... Sucks, doesn't it? I hate it!

  2. Your intro rate was a special offer.  You are not going to keep that rate no matter what.  You could cut back on the extra tiers and that DVR and get a better rate.  My cable bill is $50 for basic and expanded basic -- no digital tiers, no DRV.
