My computer is acting weird, both my brother and dad have looked but cant figure out whats wrong! It all started a couple of weeks ago when I was playing the sims 2 my screen went blank and refused to show anything. Then an hour or so ago i went to turn it on and the screen wouldnt work and the box thing made beeping sounds so i turned it off and turned it on agian and this time the box thing was quite (except for the fans and stuff going) but the screen still came up with a blue screen saying 'no input detected'. I restarted my computer about 3 more times and it was a sort of patern with the beeping then nothing then beeping again. I vacuumed all the dust out and started it but still no luck. Can anyone tell me a way of fixing this quickly and with no cost because im a teenager and pratically skint. Lol. Im getting tired and fustrated over this. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. I dont think it is due to overheating. Thnx

  1. Sorry to hear about the computer.  From what you describe, it may be  any number of possible problems: your video card (what the monitor cord plugs into) might have died, you r hard drive may have died, or any other number of computer components.  The beeping from the computer is called a "BIOS beep code", and it can tell you what may be wrong with the computer.  In order to decode it, you have to know a few things: What kind of BIOS you have, the make and model of your computer, etc. One beep is good. More beeps means trouble. You might want to find a local geek to take a look at it.

Hmmm...one thing you may want to check first is all the cable connections on the back of the computer box. Plug/unplug them all with the computer box turned OFF, and turn on the box afterward. Sometimes it's just a loose cable. Check the easy stuff first: Power, cables, etc. Was there any lightning? Power surges? Browning out? A lot of this will also affect the computer.

Good Luck! I hope this helps!

  2. my computer did the same thing,we had to get a new computer because ti got old

  3. Major hardware failure (a component inside was fried - the fact you didn't shut it down immediately didn't help either, what did you thought, it will repair by itself?) the beeps you hear are the BIOS error code. Write down the exact formula (like 2 beeps-pause-1beep-pause-3beeps) then come back with more details - the exact model of your pc is one of them.

  4. "No input detected"  sounds like the monitor is not hooked up to your computer correctly. Check the cord that goes from the monitor into your PC. I suggest that you disconnect/reconnect the cord and check both ends, then start up your PC again.

    Good Luck!

  5. No, I do not think it is due to overheating either.

But there are 2 things which point to the same thing:

    1) if your graphic (video) card or RAM is loose or damaged, the computer will not start up and make beeping sounds

    2) if your graphic card or RAM is loose or damaged, there will be no input to the monitor (you get the message "no input detected")

If you have a old PC (where the graphic card in not nuilt in the motherboard), the problem might be it is loose.

In any case RAM is never inbuilt, so might be the problem. Try to open and put in the RAM (and video card) again. If it still does not start up, it might be damaged.
