  1. Hello,

You should have a Windows Vista CD to perform this.

Go to "control panel->Regional and Language Options" go to "Keyboards and Languages" tab, then click "Install/uninstall Languages" while the CD is in your CD-ROM

  2. You don’t “install” Unicode.

I believe all home computer operating system in use today come with Unicode installed as the default character set: Windows (including Vista), the various types of Macintosh systems, Linux, Solaris, etc.

    Vista is already running Unicode.

You haven’t told is what languages you want, and in what applications. “Asian” covers a lot of languages. You should be able to see them all now in your web browser in any websites that run those languages, provided you have fonts that cover those languages. Vista comes with fonts that cover most languages and which are usable in in web browsers and in most word processors.

For keyboards you can add virtual keyboards for a lot of languages.  Check in Control Panel → Regional and Language Options → Keyboards and Languages → Change keyboards... → General →

Add..., and install any keyboards you need. Then you can switch between the keyboards when typing. You  will probably need to have your Install Disk on line to do this.

See also http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/vista...  and http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/ for various Unicode fonts and utilities, mostly low priced or free.

Note that some applications for Asian languages don’t used Unicode but a legacy character set, often with special fonts. If you are trying to use on of these, you need to check the documentation carefully for how to obtain the fonts you need.
