  1. You have to be very patient with this because it takes a few attempts.

1 disk clean-up > more options > delete system restore points WAIT until the ok button functions again cuz it takes time, this will give you allot of space back on your hdd

    2 run CHKDSK

3 finally try again, dont use a wireless network, plug-in the ethernet cable.

  2. When you go to the site to download the service pack, it will have a troble shooting type thing that will tell you to go to the command prompt and type in the codes manually to be able to download it. There will usually be a box that says you cant download or download failed, on that box somewhere is a link you can click and it will give you the commands to type in, but you have to type is exactly how it says or it wont work.

  3. http://www.ghacks.net/2008/04/28/officia...

They supply direct link to Service Pack 3 from Microsoft.

  4. You prob have had someone steal you Cd Windows code and now yours is illegal .  Contact Microsoft the should be able to help you.

    NightHawk

  5. Use the microsoft windows update online tool.

    http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdat...

  6. upgrade to internet explorer 6 or 7 and than try also windows update just type in either and download them first than go back and do the service pack. i had windows xp and had trouble too but this did it for me...if i can remember anything else i will let you know
