I recently was jiggling with some of the cables inside, IE taking out my cd drive, and i did it one too many times and my fan got unplugged, i plugged my fan back into the PSU and now my computer wont even boot up. My case is the Antec sonata II and my motherboard is the asus m2n-e. Thanks in advance.

  1. how did you post this then?hmm thought so..

  2. Did you ground yourself when you performed the jiggling? If not, that might explain why your PC doesn't turn on. PC parts are extremely sensitive to Static Electricity. So you might have burned out one of the parts with static electricity by accident.

  3. Two possibilities.

If you didn't replace the CD drive, go into the bios setup and see if it is set to "stop on all errors". Failure to find a CD drive that was previously there would stop the boot process.

Open the computer and check for any other cables that might have gotten unplugged, while you were taking out the CD drive.

  4. You might have to use access to your friend's box for a while. But right now try hitting and/or holding down F11 and the power on button simultaneously a bunch of times.   The re-formatting of your hard drive won't be a problem as you get your computer back free of viruses, etc, and of course you have your weekly backup on flash drive or CD of your My Documents (which includes My Pictures), and a paper list of all your net downloads you actually use, like Word Viewer. Remember that cheap beer works just as well. Regards, Larry.
