  1. Depending how he got his green card he is eligible to apply for US citizenship after living in the US for 3 to 5 years. If he spent to much time out of the US he can lose his green card

  2. You said your cousine has green card and been living in U.S for five years and you'r his wife....Why would married your cousine? Just fake marriag to come to U.S? Your cousine has been living in U.S for 5 years and he has green card...if he wants he can apply for U.S citizenship. To apply for U.S citizenship has to live in U.S for 4 years he's been here 5 years which means he could apply. If he has been arrested  and been in jail he can not been U.S citizen. He could still bring you to U.S with his green card it will take anywhere between 3-6 years. If He's U.S citizen he could bring you to U.S in 3 month.Good lucky.

  3. $1,000 to apply for citizenship. If you are a permanent resident, you can become a U.S. Citizen through the process called naturalization if you meet the following requirements:

You have resided in the United States as a permanent resident continuously for five years. (You can qualify after only three years of permanent residence if you received your green card through marriage to a U.S. Citizen and you have lived together for the last three years.)

You have been physically present in the United States for half of the five years (or half of the three, if you are married to a U.S. Citizen).

You are a person of good moral character.

You have a basic knowledge of U.S. government and history.

You are able to read, write, and speak simple English (with exceptions for some older and long-time permanent residents, and for disabled permanent residents). Please check our list of free or low cost ESL and Civics courses to find organizations helping you prepare to meet this requirement.

You are at least 18 years of age and legally competent to take an oath of allegiance to the United States.

You express your allegiance to the United States.

    Red Flags

You should see an immigration attorney or other legal expert if any of the following apply to you:

    You have ever been arrested.

You have ever lied to any immigration officer, consular official, or government official.

You married solely to obtain resident status.

Since becoming a lawful permanent resident, you have been absent from the United States for long periods of time, especially periods over one year.

You have ever failed to file an income tax return for any year since becoming a lawful permanent resident or you currently owe money to the government for overdue taxes.

he can apply for your visa being a legal resident.its not necissary to be a citizen.

  4. Your cousin is not in a position to sponsor you as a green card holder, it is optionally as a Green card holder if you want to become a US citizen that is all down to personal choice.

If he does become a US citizen I don't think he could even sponsor you, according to the link this is who he can sponsor as a US citizen.

    Citizen ~Parents Immediate relative

    Citizen~  Spouse Immediate relative

    Citizen ~ Minor, unmarried children

                  Immediate relative

Citizen ~ Married children or adult children

                  Preference relative

    Citizen  ~ Brothers and sisters

                   Preference relative

If he is allowed to and he wants to sponsor you then your wait would be years
