My DSL disconnects every few minutes?

....Every few minutes I have to right-click the connection icon and click 'Repair', and it would work, but then it would be down again after another few minutes and I have to click Repair again.

Someone told me it could be a LAN card problem. Help pls?

  1. I have a perfect solution for your question because  have also faced this problem few days ago.

Just plug out your lan wire and plug it back after 10 seconds.

    This problem will be solved.

I have also done the samething and now my DSL is running smoooooooooooooooooooooooothely or for more complains try to consult your DSL operator.

  2. Check out http://www.pchelpdoc.com

Found it very helpfull maybe it can help you too.

    Goodluck!

  3. call the company u got it form. They should know about it

  4. If you're using a motherboard or LAN card that's using the Attansic L1 Gigabit chipset, it's a known issue with that chipset.   The connection will spontaneously die and you'll have to reset it using repair or restart the system to get your connection back.

You can reduce the number of times it happens by limiting the LAN card to 10/100Mbps, but it doesn't prevent it altogether.   It was said to be a driver problem, but I still have that problem from time to time with the latest Vista version.

Less frustrating, if you've got a free slot, is to buy yourself a cheap, no-name Lan card built around the Realtek chipset.   Not fancy, and often scoffed at, but it's more than fast enough for an internet connection, and it's far more stable.  If yours is built into the motherboard like mine, be sure to disable it in the BIOS first though.

  5. Reboot your router then speak to your ISP if the problem persists.

  6. it could be the LAN card. given they are only about $10, it is reasonably cheap to find out. you could also check the cable.

if you have another computer, perhaps check that on the router with the same cable and see if you have the same problem.

this one is always a difficult one to troubleshoot.

    could be firewall.

could be ISP resetting IP addresses (some do that)

    good luck
