Everytime the phone rings, the connection gets interupted and has to start up again. Why is that? I thought DSL was supposed to be way better than dial-up. Its thru AT&T! Wussup with this? Is there any way I can stop this without changing services, because I've really been thinking about switching to a cable modem. Its getting very annoying!

  1. I think you forgot to install a "Filter"  for you phone line.  Sounds like this could be your problem. Your provider should have sent you some with your "modem" if you did the install.

If not, some other cable must be connected wrong check your manuals, your phone and DSL should work happily together. Just don't get Cable its less reliable from what I've heard.

  2. You need to get some help from AT&T. The filter filters the data noise from your phone, since I have never tried running without the filters I don't know how the phone reacts with the connection without a filter. There has to be something incorrect in your setup. I have had DSL thru AT&T for a couple of years. Went from Comcast broadband to DSL and really didn't notice much difference. DSL is way cheaper. We are running 2 desktop and 2 laptop computers, desktops are wired, laptops are wireless and have not had any problems yet.
