My DTV converter box won't work!?

i bought my dtv converter yesterday and i put it in my room but it barley works i use a normal antenna how can i fix it so i can view more channels? What kind of antenna should i get

First, try aiming your antenna in the direction of the digital stations in your area.  The links below will help you figure out where they are.

I don't know what you mean by normal antenna.  I assume you mean rabbit ears.  If thats the case, you can improve things by using a roof antenna.  Again, it has to be aimed at the stations.
