My DVD burner is really slow?

When I start burning something, the speed starts at 30MB/sec but keeps on dropping and eventually drops to 2MB/sec after a few mins. I tried setting it to DMA mode but when I click on "Advanced settings" on a channel, there's no devices listed:

also, when I'm burning something, my whole pc is also slowed down.

  1. Odds are either

    1. Your driver sucks. If this is the case then I can't help you.

    2. Your computer is overloaded with processes. When burning a disk, everything on your computer is bound to slow down. Try closing all windows before starting the burn and see if that keeps the speed up.

    3. Computer is overheated. I know on my old computer it used to overheat easy and it would take 89234 years to burn stuff, music or DVDs or loading games.

    4. Your PC/latop just sucks. If you have an old computer it might just not be up to the task of burning DVDs quickly.

  2. well its possible your burner is c**p, your disks are low quality, or your system is overloaded with tasks and cant keep up with a 30mbps transfer rate.  If you have a lot of icons showing by your clock in the right hand corner try closing a few of them before burning it might help speed things up.
