My DVD player has lost colour - what's gone wrong?

Put a DVD in last night and it played back without any colour. Could this have anything to do with the remote - the batteries died the other evening and we replaced them with some from the camera (until we could get to the shops to buy new for the remote).

Check the scart lead hasn't come loose or if it's connected with the 3 coloured wires check they are all pushed in properly

It may have been an old film that was in black & white - just a thought.

Try leaving drawer open for 30 minutes without a dvd in place. Maybe has condensation on lense.
