It is a newer DVD player (just bought it last year) and the audio plays but not the video. Is there a way to fix this?

  1. Is the dvd NTSC Region 0? Because if it is PAL Region 0 then maybe that's your problem. You should always buy a dvd player that has divx codecs installed already. Usually Phillips dvd players are the best when it comes to playing ANYTHING

    CONT.

Ok see if it can play on your computer's dvd drive properly. Can other dvds work good on your dvd player?

If the dvd works fine on your computer but don't work on your dvd player then the problem lies in your dvd player.

  2. If the dvd is homemade its probably in AVI format and not mpeg-2 dvd format. AVI format combines mpeg-4 and mp3 files to make a video so that could be why it wont work and also are the regions the same? That could be a problem.
