Is this a long time to wait for a car?

Its A European-spec 2008 Mazda6 which will be imported to the UK from Japan. My prediction was that it would only take a month, 4 months seems quite a while.

NOTE : Its a company car.

  1. Dont try buying a Morgan then - you will wait 4 years (yes years) for delivery!

Remember your dads Mazda will be coming by Sea as part of a whole shipment of cars for UK so a 4 month wait is not that bad. You could wait that long for lots of european made cars if you choose one of the less popular colours.

  2. It really should not take that long if it is a 2008.  If it was 2009, i would understand as the new model year begins in September/October.  What is so special about this car that it will take 4 months?  makes no sense.

  3. There are plenty of dealers in the UK that sell imported cars why didn't he get one from them??????????????????

  4. Yes, it is a while. But its delivery depends on who's handling the car, who has to alter or ship it, and probably several other smaller factors.

In June of 2004 my father purchased a certain car that was produced only at the rate that people placed orders. It took something between four and seven months to deliver. Earlier that year he placed an order for the Ford GT and didn't take delivery until well into 2005, if not early 2006. (I was away at school so I don't remember exactly.)

Some cars take their sweet time to arrive. I can't imagine why the Mazda is taking so long but there isn't too much one can do about it, anyway.
