My Dad passed away and he got social security?

okay my dad past away in august around the 9th and he got social security check for is disabilities and i got some too? well since he passed on they said i get some or all of his check that he use to get well i wonder how long does it take to process the forms are on the way...i am 16 can or has anyone been threw or know what i am talking about please only serious answers thank you and i appreciate it

  1. ~~I have learned one thing with social security. It's imperative to go in to your local office and talk directly with someone, explain the hardship it is creating and ask them to expedite this. If you do anything over the phone it won't help at all. You can call and make an appointment, but get in right away. If you don't you will be lost in the paperwork nightmare. If you are there in person, you get much faster action to your problem. I'm so sorry for your family's loss, I hope this at least can be cleared up quickly.~~
