My daughter is going to be 12 years old next month and I thought about starting her on a 3 step cleanser program. Where they have the soap, clarifier and lotion. I never had any problems with acne and either does she. I just thought it might be a great idea to get her on a 3 step program before she starts wearing makeup. Because when you wear makeup you definitely should be cleansing your face everyday. Does anyone know of a great cleansing program that would be suited for a 12 year old girl?

  1. If you have a Merle Norman studio near you, take her there - they'll show you (and her) exactly the products that are appropriate. And you get to try them before you buy.

  2. I like the aloe line from the body shop. It's very gentle. Since she is not wearing makeup yet, you can probably save yourself some money and skip out on the toner. All a toner really does is remove extra dirt and makeup. As long as you teach her the proper way to wash her face she should be just fine. I believe their is a foam and cream wash, the cream will be more moisturizing.

If you're thinking more drugstore brands, I would go with dove. Clearsil/Clean&clear ETC are probably too harsh for a 12 year old's skin, and stripping any natural oils will backfire and make her break out.

Both are very gentle ways to start off, it's mostly up to her being consistant as far as whether or not they will work.

  3. if she doesnt have acne, you dont need that, it costs more money.

go to walmart and pick out a cleanser for her to use. neutrogena would be good, it's very basic and soft on the skin. about the makeup, you can just get her some makeup removing pads. and possibly get a scrub for her to use once a week.

bottom line, you dont need anything like proactiv for her.

  4. well i use the clean and clear acne control kit.

you can get it at like cvs or wal mart or something.

and it works pretty goood. you might want to use it like every two days.

  5. A gentle cleansing wash (Purpose Cleansing Wash, Clean & Clear for Sensitive Skin, etc. Those two are exactly the same in formula), an alcohol-free toner (Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner), and an oil-free moisturizer should work well (Neutrogena has a ton of oil-free moisturizers, and so does Olay). Best of luck! :)

  6. i think AcneFree Clear Skin Treatment is good ive been using it since i was twelve. you can get it from walmart

    hope this helps

  7. clinique has a great three step program that you could purchase at belks.

they also have a three step for acne.

or if you are looking for something cheaper

try the clean and clear kit.
