My Dell Laptop touch pad isn't working?

The system is working just fine... just the touch pad mouse is like frozen to the screen and won't move. Also if i turn my laptop off and then push the "home" key (which is right next to the power button) the laptop turns on and takes me to a program called Windows Media "Direct"?... and the touch pad works fine there... then when I exit WMD and turn on windows the mouse freezes again.

What's the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks!

Try cleaning it by puttin a small amt of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and cleanin it with that.
