My Dell printer has

My Dell printer has worked fine for years, for some reason the color started fading even though the levels were over 50%. Finally the black ran out so I went and had it filled like I always do. When I reinstalled them and connected everything my computer says it cannot communicate with the printer even though it still says nothing is wrong. The big problem is I lost my disc so I am afraid to uninstall and start again. Can anyone help me?
