Question:

My Diet isn't working?

I started a diet about 2 weeks ago. I use the Weight Watchers Point System on my own since I can't afford to go to actual meetings. I don't go over my points at all, I stay under them everyday. And I don't eat or drink (except water) after 6 pm, since people say you gain the most weight at night. After all this, I haven't lost a single pound. What am I doing wrong?

  1. You didn't mention any exercise.  Exercise 30-60 minutes every day.  I lost 60 lb that way.

  2. You're staying UNDER the point system...you must MUST eat to lose!

  3. you have to eat , but drink plenty of water all day and eat alot of vegetable with fruit

  4. you should excersize every day do things that will make you sweat cuz that means your workout is intese and sum ppl take longer to lose weight so any time soon the weight will just start shedding off.  and how old r u if you r under 13 then it could be just a fase. hope i helped good luck :)

  5. your body needs some time to kick in and get your metabolism going.

after about a month if you dont see results... go in and check with somebody at the building.

  6. Yes.. you MUST eat.

If you eat smaller meals, more frequetly and eat the RIGHT foods, you can actually eat more and lose more weight! Sounds strange, but our bodies are very complex and if you understand your body, you can manipulate your metabolism for speedy and SUSTAINABLE weight loss!

The key to losing weight is NOT to restrict your diet to "low fat", "low carbs" diets, but rather eating the RIGHT calories. You actually get to eat more (and stay healthy & happy!) and lose more weight if you learn how. Knowledge is power.

    Hope that helps!

  7. Maybe you are a lot more hydrated now when you first weighed in. It is possible to be a bout 5 lbs under hydrated and lose 5 lbs of fat and gain that 5 lbs of hydration. Your scale will remain the same but you actually lost 5 lbs of fat. I'd say to give this system 2 months before you can say if it is or isn't working. If you use more calories than you are taking in then you ultimately lose weight regardless of hydration levels.  Keep at it and good luck.

  8. it takes time to lose weight, you may even be losing weight, but the scales aren't saying, maybe your clothes are fitting differently. try going for walks or doing some crunches or squats to try losing  weight more quickly.

  9. You haven't mentioned if you're exercising. Most people think they can drop weight by just going on a diet or just by exercising alone. The reality is you need both a healthy diet and exercise routine to lose weight. The point system is good at monitoring your calories so if you add an exercise routine, you should start seeing weight coming off. Also be patient, as 2 weeks isn't that long. The simple formula to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. So if you aim to burn about 250 calories a day (you can walk or run for about 30 minutes) and cut another 250 calories from your diet per day, you should lose around a pound a week since it takes a 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound.

  10. It has only been two weeks, results will soon show. You should enroll in a gym, my trainer told me that I should not count pounds, instead count inches you loose. make sure you are careful with what kind of foods you are eating as well

  11. have you made sure that the points system is what's correct for your weight. You may not be sacrificing as many calories as you need to be. Also, you should start exercising or at least get 30-45 minutes of activity a day.

  12. To lose weight, you have to burn off more calories than you eat. If you are not losing weight, then you are either not burning off enough calories or eating too many. It really is that simple. You may have cut down on what you eat but you logically must also have cut down on exercise too.

Also remember that if you drink 1 litre of water you will then be 1kg heavier.

  13. Do the South Beach Diet it is easy and really works I lost 48 pounds and have kept it off for 3 YEARS!!!  It really works! and is super easy!

  14. have to be patient girly...im on a diet myself..i lost 20 lbs and i didnt even notice..just be patient and stay confident

and make sure u eat carbs...like wheat bread its like fuel for ur body..that will help u lose weight

  15. When you have your meal your plate should be half veggies or salad. The other half should be divided and half should be a lean meat (chicken- not fried, but grilled) Stay away from bacon and ham. The salt content will make you retain water and are high in fat. Your meat serving should be about the size of your fist. The other can be a whole grain roll or potato on occasion, and other times fruit. Careful of condiments they are loaded with sugars and empty calories. Ketchup is a killer for it. Try low sugar ketchup- same taste less calories and sugar. 64oz of water a day will help your body not feel dehydrated and you won't retain water as much, plus you feel fuller longer

Make sure you eat 3 meals a day and 2 small healthy snacks like celery sticks with light ranch, dill pickle spear or SF Jell-O, or NF yogurt. They help keep your metabolism going.

Get 30 min of exercise a day, it could be walking, using resistance bands or joining a workout class. Just up your daily exercises by 30 min and you will lose weight. Toning exercise is also a good one for you since you are eating healthy. Crunches, leg lifts, squats, wall sits and push-up will help tone you down and build muscles which burn fat

If you are over 17 then e-mail me and I have a diet for you to look at. I have lost over 60 lbs in 3.5 months. It is Doctor recommended and healthy

  16. well you need to work out also and you shouldnt stay under your point system you should eat as long as your not over eating!

  17. If you are staying under the points you are allowed per day, then you are not eating enough, and you're body may be in starvation mode.  I did Weight Watchers years ago, before the points, but several gals that I work with are doing it now with the points.  I understand that there are certain factors that go into calculating how many points you are allowed in a day.  I have heard all of them say that they were advised at the meetings to eat all of the points they were given in a day in order to achieve optimum results.

Do you exercise regularly?  When I did WW I lost 50 pounds, but my exercise was not a regular regime.  When I would go to the grocery store, I would park in the corner of the lot farthest away from the store entrance.  When I left with a cart, I would walk back out to my car, then walk the cart back to the store (not leave it in a parking lot cart storage area).  That would be four times back and forth, which adds up.  I took the stairs at every opportunity, drank lots of water.  If you drink coffee, try to drink it black; if you drink sodas, try diet.

Just don't give up!!  Eat all of your points every day, and give it some time.
