  1. first .. calm down -- it's no big deal.  i'm 22 years old and still have never gotten mine fixed.  i know, i'm a female too .. it's weird .. but what are ya gonna do, ya know?  haha .. anyway .. you'll go to the hospital, prep, and they'll knock you out .. do the surgery and stitch up the inside.  all a hernia is, is an opening in the skin and your insides are poking through it -- so they will stitch it up with dissolvable stitches and you're good to go .. but i wouldn't recommend getting back into the swing of things for at least a good week.  you need to take it VERY easy after this surgery .. don't lift heavy things!!!  hope this bit of advice helps!!

  2. Yes, surgery can be scary, especially when you are only 13.  But, a hernia repair or herniorrhaphy is a very simple surgery.  The bulging part of the muscle is pushed back where it belongs and they sew or suture the opening or tear closed.  Many times this is done laprascopically which means with a small scope through a small incision.  It only takes about 30 minutes and you will recover very quickly.  Try not to get too worried.  It will be very simple.  Good health.

  3. my brother is 18 and had surgey on a hernia he was born with and the doctors found it just a month ago. he had his surgery like 2 weeks ago, and he's already recovered. his surgery only lasted like an hour and he didnt take very much pain medication. hopefully yours isnt that bad =[
