  1. Do you know what the sore originated from? If it was just a small little bit of hairloss, then got worse and became a sore, it might be Demodex Mites, which is mange. Puppies ARE VERY prone to getting demodex "infestations" because in general they have lower immune systems, which puts them at risk. So even if you cover it up, it the cuase is demodex, then it wont get better, it will spread into other sores and more hairloss. I would recommend a vet appointment to be on the safe side. Demodex is much easier to take care of if you catch it early. Good Luck!

  2. My dog had a similar sore on his leg that he kept biting. My vet says it not a physical problem but an emotional one.Maybe he's upset about something.Do you have anything new in your yard?

The vet game us a topical spray. It's been a week and it's healing nicely but I never could figure out what was bothering him.

  3. It may be a hot spot.  My dog gets them all the time and they are painful for the dog.  What we found very helpful was we bought Vitamin E capsules and prick one, and squeeze the vitamin e onto the hot spots and rub it in.  It helps relieve the dog of pain, and helps heal the hot spot very quickly.  Even if this is not a hot spot, the vitamin e will work for a sore.

Neosporin helps, but in my opinion it makes the sore very gunky and forms a lot of puss.

If it is a hot spot, try to vitamin e and keep the dog cool, ty putting a fan in front of the dog.  And make sure he does not scratch!!!!

    Good luck!

  4. Yeah, I think you should try and tape some gauze or something over it. and if it looks really raw, you should probably take him to the vet and get it checked out... Hope this helps!

  5. You could go buy an Elizabethan collar and he won't be able to scratch his ear. He can easily scratch off a bandage.

  6. Have you taken him to the vet to have it checked out?

You can go to the vet and buy or request an izabethan collar that looks like a lamp shade. Put some antibacterial cream on it and use this collar until it heals.

After it has healed, if he scratches it again, you will have to take him into the vet and have it removed. (if its a growth or mole)

I saw this frequently in the clinics and they almost always got re-opened and infected.

  7. Well this time of year I'd say that he scratches his ear cause of the bugs and incects outside and thats more than likely why isn't doing in the house!
