I'm 14 and my handicap is 12. I know that is not even good enough, but I LOVE golf. It's my life. I practise everyday in the summer, well almost everyday. Will i ever make it? What was tour players handicap when they were 14. I want to make the PGA more than any one else. Do you think i can make it? It's really hard, but I think in the next couples of years i will improve alot. Thanks for answers.ing

  1. Keep on practicing and you will definetly make it. Practice makes perfect.

  2. it doesnt really matter what tour players were wen they were 14.

I REALLY WaNT TO GET On TOUR ALSO, but u  need to be scratch handicapp. 0 and under.  as of right now im a 3, but still dont have wat i takes.  Just practice, until you can get better, then play for you school, and u will get noticed

  3. A lot of players were 12's. I bet you can do it. Do you compete? That is key. Competing against others and beating them. Play for your college. But you need to be better then scratch by then. Never stop taking lessons. I wish I were 14 again, kid. You're very lucky to have youth on your side. Stick to it, no matter what.

  4. your probably a little behind but i can't remember who it  is but some guy on tour had never even played till he was like 22 or something but he was almost scratch immediately just a natural. i'm like a 12-14 handicap and i'm  28 and started when i was 10 maybe but never got really serious about it,or had any lessons or anything. but you've got a chance. just keep practicing join the golf team and in 4 years you should be good enough for college team and by then, you'll know if you got what it takes. good luck

  5. No matter how good a golfer gets their chances are pretty slim of making it to the PGA tour.  But that is no reason not to try.  Give it your best shot, work hard at it and even if you never make the tour you will be a better person for having dedicated yourself to the effort.

  6. That is a great dream to have. Sounds that you are doing pretty good so far. Work especially hard on your putting, sand shots, pitching and chipping. If you are really serious you need to work with a really good instructor. Every good young  player making it today has a PGA pro helping them with their game.

You need to work out for golf ,so ask a trainer for help on golf specific exercises or visit TPI on the Titleist website.Try to play in as many tournaments as you can for experience. If you do all this you will be well on your way,and maybe we'll be watching you on the tour one day.

    Best of luck.                     Alasdair Watt

  7. Let me hit you with some knowledge....

Most collegiate golfers average about a +1 index (for the bigger schools).  Out of the millions of collegiate golfers out there, how many do you think actually make the tour?  Last I read, only 2% of collegiate golfers actually make the PGA tour for more than 3 years.  However daunting the task may sound, there is always a chance.  Practice does make perfect, but sometimes perfect isnt enough.  Play in the US open qualifiers and you will see how many good players there really are in the world.  The key is to win at the right time in your life, to get lucky, and to never plateau in your game.  This may all sound pesimistic, but it is the truth.  Just keep working at it, and maybe someday it will happen.

  8. It's going to take a lot more than just desire and practice. It takes a lot of skill to make it to the PGA. But it is very doable.

You should get some coaching if you haven't already. You will need someone to tell you where you need improvement and what you are doing wrong when you are doing something wrong.

Keep at it and never give up. And don't listen to people if they tell you that you can't do it.

  9. Of course you can.

Jack Nicklaus didn't play his first full round of golf until he was a young teen.

  10. Don't worry about the PGA Tour. Work on more immediate goals, plan your life as if you're NOT going to make the Tour, and if you're good enough when you get out of college you'll already know by then.

Right now, work hard to make your high school golf team. Then try to do well enough to make all conference, and all-state. Then use your success to get yourself into a good college. If you're kicking butt in college, you'll know if you're PGA material. And if you're not, you're in great shape to do other things.

  11. Now you 14, for sure you can.... question is not you can or can't...   learn and practice, get more experience... no short cut... only learn, practice and experience...

To get more experienece, go to junior tournament... there are a lot of good player over there..  There are many good junior tournament... one of them is Callaway, junior world golf championship.  First, try get qualified for this turnament.

  12. Like anything thing in life, to be a professional, you have to practice, practice, practice.  I work in sales.  And no matter what where when who how, I pitch everyone who will listen, everything that I can do to improve, receive feedback , overcome objectives, tie downs etc.  It is like anything in life, if you chose a field of study and are willing to pursue it to the point of being a professional in whichever field you should so desire, then you can do it!   I am a professional in sales, close over %50 percent week in and out, just think if you birdied %50, you would be a professional too.  All you can do is practice practice practice and remember the old adage, practice makes perfect.  All you can do is give it your all, and if you do not, you will always regret it, do you nest, and everything else is just gravy!
