I put my female and male betta in separate tanks beside each other! The male has been opening his gills to attract her every time he sees her. The Female also been opening her gills and they both try to come together! BUT THEY CANT HA HA! I Put them beside each other for about 4 hrs now and it looks like they want each other! Is it okay if i drop her in with a male? If its a yes they will be under these conditions; 2 gallon tank with 1 plant and marble gems at the bottom. Filtered water with a temp of 80f.

  1. NO...not unless they're ready to mate!

It may look 'cutsie' to you BUT, He will Attack her.....what you're seeing isn't 'love' it's ready to Fight.

Also that's a Small tank for the 2 of them...nowhere for Her to run to Hide.

    I've had 'Bettas'...even Mated them and I used a 5 gallon Tank!

  2. No, keep your male and female seperate.  They want to be together because thats nature.  If you do put them together, one will be seiously injured or killed.  The male will flare and the female will bar up, because they want to mate.   But mating is stressful for both the fish and can actually kill them.  Also you wont have room for 500 babies.  It's okay to keep them next to eachother, but not together.  I have my 3 females next to my male, but never together.  Trust me.

  3. Try asking in the fish section of answers

  4. You need at least two females or he will bully her to death

  5. If you want them to mate you need at least a 10 gal.

  6. NO............what your male and female are doing is trying to fight each other ,if you want to breed them make shur that you have at least a ten gallon tank with lots of hidding places for the female and make shur the male has build a bubble nest .my best advice would be to move the two tanks away from each other ,as it puts added stress on the male and female

as-well for breeding "marbles" would be bad ,a bare bottom tank would be best as bettas pick the eggs up off the ground and spit them in the bubble nest

  7. it sounds like a good idea. and if you do tell me how it goes.
