Question:

My Female molly will not have her babies!

it has been 6 weeks since she has been pregnant and jsut today i bought 1 male marble molly and 2 sucker fish and already had 1 small orange fish tht about 1 in. that she is very well bonded with! but she will not have her babies and im getting worried! help asap!!!!!!!!!

  1. she does not feel comfortable with her surroundings try to look up ideal husbandry for that breed of fish and then isolate her for a few days.make sure she has everything necessary tio make a suitable nest.good luck


  2. well first you should place your fish in a quiet place and not a roudy place. also, make it be comfortable in the tank. check if temp is the right temp and see if the male is with her

You should arrange some plants around a heater and leave the lights off.  Though sometimes it is normal for a platty to go up to eight weeks before giving birth ( I believe it is because of the mother's dietary intake.)  A sign that the mother is getting ready to give birth is she will stop eating.  You can even purchase a hermit crab shell, that will protect the fry.  Just keep waiting and watching and it will eventually happen.  The more comfortable you make the fish, the faster it will happen.

  4. Okay.... They can hold their eggs for as long as they want, Shes not ready,  She will have them Soon dont worry. More babies are on the way ;)
