Question:

My First Snowboard Selection Finalists?

This will be my first snowboard and I'm hoping that I get something that I will really enjoy and that will last me a while. I'm looking for a very versatile board that will not only handle ANY and ALL terrain in an excellent manner, but will also adapt easily to my expertise level as I become a more advanced rider. I consider myself a beginning-intermediate right now - I'm still having problems with toe turns. Is there such a thing as an all-around great board that will be forgiving to beginners yet satisfy and even please advanced riders?

My specifications:

Height 5 ft. 6 in.

Weight 135-140 lbs.

Boot/Shoe size 9

From the long list of boards I previously had, I finally managed to select two finalists:

Lib Tech TRS MTX

K2 Darkstar

Of these two, which would you recommend more? Also, which length should I go with? Thanks so much!

  1. K2 Darkstar ... K2 are nice

go short if u wana do tricks

go long if u wanna just ride

  2. Ive owned a K2 Darkstar myself its a good board but is more of a park board than anything else, although you could ride it in powder but it wouldent be as good over all terrains as a proper all mountain board. I dont know much about the TRS but i looked it up and it looks quite impressive, its an all mountain board with magnatraction etc and Lib tech claim its a board for all levels of riders. But they tend even with there pro boards to rate them as intermediate level when really they are higher than that, also its very expensive for a first board. If you are a new rider you dont need to spend that much on a board at the moment especially if you havent yet got your turns 100% sorted yet. In answer to your question about an all around great board that will be forgiving to begineers and also be good for advanced riders. The only boards like that are jib boards like the Rome Artifact, K2 WWW, Burton Dominant etc. These boards are easy to ride and are ridden by begineers and advanced riders but they are not all round boards they only really perform in the park and will be no good in other areas. I can understand your way of thinking that you want to buy a board now that will last you a long time, but in reality all entry level boards made by decent brands are progressive enough to last you a couple of years, and its more likely that when you get your second board it will be more because you just want one rather than really need one. As you are still having trouble with turns etc i wouldent go for either of those boards, and go for something like a Forum Recon, Gnu CHB, K2 Select. Good Luck with the riding.
