My Flora to prove a good recruit for Donald McCain in TBA Mares´ Novices´ Hurdle at Uttoxeter
A prolific pointer and smart hunter chaser, My Flora knows how to bag wins. The 8-year-old showed great form in the hunter chase scene last season, and has plenty more to offer. By winning Thursday’s TBA Mares´ Novices´ Hurdle at Uttoxeter, the mare is going to prove herself a good recruit for Donald McCain.
Bred by Edward Crow, the bay mare unleashed her true skills last season, when taking four classy victories at different venues. She started her career with a couple of big bangs. After tasting debut glory at Bangor-on-dee, she went to Stratford, and clinched another marvellous success.
Her winning journey came to a halt at the start of this year, when she suffered a tumble at Newbury. Quickly getting her together, she notched up the fourth rank in the Christie's Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham.
After facing a couple of setbacks, the daughter of Alflora returned to the winning ways, and secured success at Ludlow. Her previous win came at Stratford, where she beat the opponents by nine lengths.
The last start ahead of the seasonal rest was not impressive at all. In the W+S Recycling Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunters' Chase (54th Running), she could only seize the fifth place.
Currently owned by W. D. Edwards & J. Whitfield, My Flora is currently fresh and full of energy. She has proved her worth on numerous occasions, looking geared up to add another triumph to her tally.
She is up against six opponents. Over a distance of two miles, the contestants will compete for a handsome prize of £2,599. The class 4 contest is due to start at 12:45 GMT.
Arch Event, a flat winner on easy ground, made just an okay start over hurdles. So, it is hard to recommend her. Little Curtsey pulled up at Market Rasen, and needs plenty to compete. Lisselan Pleasure is modest on the Flat at the moment, and showed nothing special at Ludlow.
Scholastica, on the other hand, has a role to play. The Tom Symonds-trained is an obvious contender on strength of the latest Ludlow third. According to our calculations, she is the only main threat to My Flora.
