My Flora to take down Chapoturgeon in the Christie’s Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup at Cheltenham
The Class 2 Christie’s Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup is to be staged at Cheltenham over three miles, two furlongs and 110 yards on Friday, 16th March. The race has attracted a highly versatile lineup of twenty-four runners and there is hardly
a handful who have their recent outcomes as placed while the rest have posted victories the last time they were active.
The enticing purse for the race is worth £20, 986.
The most note worthy entry for the race is My Flora, Alflora’s eight-year-old bay mare out of mare Bishop’s Folly. She has raced just once ever since the new season shot off and has been unbeaten in the last three starts that she made while being entered
as a favourite in all three.
My Flora’s seasonal debut was in the M & C Carpets Hunters’ Chase on 18th January at Newbury over two miles and six and a half furlong.
The 11/4 favourite of the race, My Flora, was disqualified after falling down during the course of the race but that no way indicated her inability to win. She did chase the leaders and progressed through the track. Even when falling, she did it decently
as My Flora was third behind the leader when she encountered the unfortunate fate.
The winner of the race was Chapoturgeon who was riding with Mr. J. Barber and led the track of thirteen by sixteen lengths. Settling in as the runner up was Cloudy Lane while third in line behind the winner was Now Listen To Me.
My Flora’s two final starts of 2011 witnessed her bagging both.
My Flora was the 8/13 favoutite winner of the James Griffith Memorial Novices’ Hunters’ Chase on 29th April 2011 at Bangor-on-dee over three miles and half a furlong. She was paired with jockey Mr. R. Burton and commanded the field of five by
an amazing twenty lengths.
Then on 27th May 2011, My Flora won the Pointtopoint.Co.UK Champion Novices’ Hunters’ Chase at Stratford over three miles and four furlongs. The mare and jockey were coupled up again for the venture and this time led the field by nine lengths.
Despite being the most convincing entry, My Flora needs to look out for Chapoturgeon who made the most out of the recent outing by taking advantage of My Flora’s stumbling moment.
