  1. Tell him you think he's full of merde.

  2. None of the foreign language teachers at the high school where I teach can speak the languages they are teaching!  They are currently being TAUGHT the language or the students take the class online (which, I've heard, is a joke) - When the state and federal government REQUIRE foreign language for two years to graduate but no one wants to be a foreign language teacher, this is what happens.  It's the government's fault - foreign language should be taught in kindergarten and up.  Spanish seems the best since that is going to be the second largest spoken language in the US in no time.

  3. Just because a teacher is not a lecture centered instructor, that does not mean that they are not making an effort to make sure you have the information you need to learn.  Are you completing the activities he gives you according to the directions? Are you making use of other materials he may have available in class (such as lab tapes, etc.).  If the instructor is not requiring you to do anything at all and just giving arbitrary grades, you may have some grounds to discuss things with the principal.  If you have been given activities to complete such as work from your book, worksheets, tapes to listen to, readings to complete, etc. you'll just have to adjust to the fact that this guy isn't going to spoon feed you and wants you to learn how to learn independently.  It's very possible that while this guy is on the computer drinking coffee, he could be researching the next day's activity and reviewing student work so that they can receive feedback....

  4. Report it to the principle. If no action is taken, report it to the super intendent. If still no action is taken, report it to the entire school board. And still, if no answer is recieved, or not the one you like, you can take it to the state school review board.

  5. Get parents to write in. or complain to your form tutor. they usually do listen, and will sometimes have a little chat with the teacher at hand.

  6. It sounds like he was forced to teach something in which he had no interest, so he isn't really bothering with it.  That isn't acceptable, and you can complain to your principal.  My French teacher knew the rules but had a ridiculously bad accent, which I recognized even then.  You don't want to go to college and find out that you don't know enough to take the next level of the language, which is what happened to me.
