Question:

My Friend's hands are in a bad condition?

She has been to the Doctor several times. Her hands had scaly scabby places on the palms of her hands. Now the scabby places

look as if they are going deeper and look real sore. Her entire palms are covered with this stuff. The Dr gave her creams which doesn't work.

She thinks it's nothing to be concerned with, but I think it could be

serious. Have you ever seen anything such as I described and do you know what it might be?

  1. Does your friend use harsh cleaning detergents? Does she have allergies? Has she changed laundry detergents? There could be any number of things that could result in this and with out seeing her personally I wouldn't even guess at what it could be.  If the creams that her Dr. gave her do not work she should go back and ask for something different. She should also wear gloves when doing the dishes or cleaning until this condition has cleared up. It is always a good idea to wear gloves when using cleaning solvents etc, because they are harsh on your skin and nails.

  2. My best friend had the scaly palms too.

A friend told him to use petrolem jelly on his hands .

It helped him don't know if it will help her but seems no harm in trying it.

  3. Eczema can cause all sorts of bad things to your skin anywhere on your body.

    e.g.

    redness

    flaking

    itching

    dryness

    blistering

    cracking... of skin etc...

your friend's doctor should refer her to a dermatologist if the problem doesn't go away on its own.

A lot of physicians don't like to refer their patients to specialist because they think they know everything and have too much pride, but I would insist on a specialist if your friend hasn't seen one yet.

Second opinion is always a good thing.
