A friend of mine wants to move to Venezuela, South America. He's wondering if it is a good decision for him. He's fluent in Spanish, and is also looking for a Job as a English teacher. He's also not shure where to go and live and needs recommendations where they would need the most teachers.

  1. Any country in south america..........maybe let him try guyana....to teach spanish there

  2. Venezuela is a charming spot on earth. However, Venezuelans - just like Cubans - are only interested in enjoying life and when it comes to chose a leader, they blunder. Share with them music, arts, booze, good food, nature, love, and you got the best partners. I love-hate them. I lived there the best and the worst parts of my life.

Presently, if you think you could take life in Cuba, by all means, go to Venezuela. But take it into account that Chavez is highly suspicious of anything that has to do with English speaking countries and he is in his country all-powerful. I love Venezuela.  I grew up there since I was 13 and left for Israel when 30. I love Venezuelans, but I can't take them... when it comes to serious matters, they look at you with a smile, a cup in their hand and they ask you "...who, me?". Sorry partners...this is a gross generalization, of course, but I left there heartbroken in 1964  and returned to give it a try in 2001...no much had changed.  All along half a century, they went from a rightist military government to a leftist military government : the streets are still dirty, the same poor is still poor, the same rich is still rich, the booze is  still cheap and my heart is still aching.

    Your choice, pal...

  3. thats a great idea. after he's there a while, he'll realize what he has lost.

  4. Get their e-mail and keep in touch. nothing more.

  5. Well, its up to him. I would think he would make more money in the US. It would be an experience of a life time! He should have a blast, if he goes! What ever happens is meant to be!

  6. At this point in time I would not suggest for him to go to Venezuela.  Chavez is taking any American going in there very seriously.  Plus diplomatic relations are being strained quite abit so if something were to happen the US would not have alot of room to negotiate.   So I would so don't do it there.  But pretty much any other Latin American country should be fine
